In a land of black and silver, it's hard not to feel giddy when you find a gadget with a little color. It's even more difficult to ignore its fatal flaws. I wrestled with the issue all week as I tested Motorola's chromatic follow-up to last year's little black flip phone. Available in lime green, sky blue, and burnt orange, the polished metal clamshell sure is eye-catching. Problem is, times have changed and the phone's tech hasn't: Its unique opening mechanism that once felt novel just seems complicated; there's substantial lag between opening the phone and actually connecting to a call; and the camera's still a VGA. You start to wonder if the slick exterior is the only cool thing about it. Sure, I felt like hot shit when people asked to look at my stylish mobile, but when it came to actually talking on it, I felt like a total chump.
